Chloe
Doody sings her own stylish compositions against a backdrop of
jazz/blues standards from the
repertoire of Dinah Washington, Nina Simone,
Julie London with some Tom Waits and JJ Cale thrown in for good
measure. Her soprano sax and flute playing is exceptional, reminiscent
of Barbara Thompson at her finest. The Persuasion are a
five-piece, with Chloe's work augmented by some of the finest
musicians in the area - all of them from well-known bands: Drums
- "Fatha" (Blueflies); Bass - Roy Piper (Hamps
Tramps); Guitar - Andy Powers
(Scandalous Bachelors); Keyboards - "Shades" Coles (numerous London Sessions).
"This is one class act with touches of excellence - the music sweeps over you without insulting your ears or cutting through your nerve ends" (Keep it Live)

Anna Shannon and Roy Piper from the Chloe Doody Persuasion perform songs with a folk blues feel, written by Anna and inspired by musical traditions established in 19th century USA - the frontier and the deep south. A hard-travellin' journey by railroad to the barrelhouses and medicine shows, where the hero is the dispossessed - the hard living hobo, the share-cropper.
Anna plays guitar and sings. Roy plays shotgun bass.
