Gina Dootson is a unique singer-songwriter who originates from Selby, Nr York. Her evocative songs, together with powerful voice and skilful guitar style, are sure to enrapture even the coldest of hearts.
Gina started writing songs at the young age of 6, when she also took up classical piano lessons. She taught herself to play the guitar at 15 and was soon performing live. She won the 'Battle of the Bands' at Fibbers in '93 with the duo 'No Access'. She continued with her solo music career and has supported the likes of Eddi Reader, T'Pau, Runrig, Kathryn Williams, Roy Harper, Toyah, Nick Harper......
Gina has recently finished recording some of her greatest songs in her home studio. Her album "3am Generation" superbly presents her evocative songs, powerful voice, and skilful guitar work.
"John Lydon once sang "anger is an energy" and Gina Dootson knows how to harness the power of anger. She swipes at the strings of her guitar with an aggressive strumming style while tearing into the subject matter of her lyrics. Occasional tender songs such as the fragile Sleepless Tonight stand out like beacons. Gina Dootson has attitude, the kind of attitude that has rewarded the Selby singer/ songwriter with a recent tour of Germany and coveted support slots with Eddi Reader, Roy Harper and Kathryn Williams. Her impressive new album 3am Generation is available now." Rob Nichols - Evening Gazette
