Hamps Tramps were formed in the 1980's during
the famed Blakey jam sessions - they now spread their "good-time"
message to
appreciative
audiences all over Britain. Their professional and good humoured
approach has won them thousands of friends and fans of all musical
tastes, from rock to blues to jazz. It has got them more regional
TV appearances than they can remember, much
radio play of their three sizzling albums
and appearances at top events (from Burnley Blues Festival to
Edingburgh Jazz Festival) nationwide.
Baz Hamps (tenor sax and main vocals) who was working with Champion Jack Dupree in the sixties and Little Richard in the nineties, is joined by Tramps: Dirk Zodiak (tenor sax) (ex-Paul Young's Q-Tips), Roy Piper (bass), Mick Hill (guitar) and Pete Jackson (drums). Extra percussion and van driving: Lee Rudlington.
"Infectious New Orleans style R'n'B with great zest and humour.....this band has you smiling from the start" - (Gus Smith, Blueprint Magazine).
"They never fail to create a party atmosphere....great musicians who thoroughly enjoy what they do - it always comes across that way, both on stage and on the various recordings they've issued" - (Trevor Cajiao, Now Dig This Magazine).
