Larry Miller

Blues rock guitarist Larry Miller is the master of the guitar and once on stage this shy, almost retiring musician, metamorphoses into an in-your-face rock star and truly lets rip! His charismatic personality overflows as he possesses the stage.

Larry Miler was destined to be a guitarist. The youngest son of a highly artistic family from Guildford, he picked up his brother's guitar and within a year had put  together his first band - and written all their material. Having bought his now legendary trademark "Larryocaster" strat, he was citing influences such as Freddie King, Jimi Hendrix, Roy Buchanan, Gary Moore and Rory Gallagher. Gallagher, who later became a personal friend, actually shared the cover of his "Stagestruck" album with Larry.

Larry and his band have built up a huge following all over the U.K. and have performed alongside artists as diverse as Peter Green, Ian Gillan, Climax Blues Band, Thunder and Walter Trout. Thousands have now seen Larry perform at the Reading Festival, Kent Bike Show, and the Massive Bulldog Bash - one of "the most innovative performers around" said Kerrang.

Behind the maestro is the tightest group around, consisting of top studio/session drummer Andy Aust laying a superlative groove, Mel Waters on Bass guitar providing the anchor, and session singer Julian Turner-Bell on backing vocals.

Larry has been called "the happiest blues guitarist on the circuit", but listen carefully to what the man plays, and you'll hear sheer top of the range guitar work, that only comes from someone who is dedicated to their craft - polished, professional and highly entertaining.

Gig Reviews

Isn't life full of surprises?  Having originally decided to make a trek to see Stan Webb's Chicken Shack, I find that I am instantly bowled over by the support act.

This Larry Miller explodes rather than just appears on stage and hits you right between the eyes, from the first bar it's polished, professional and highly entertaining. True, it's on the rockier edge of blues and the guy certainly looks more like a rock star than any other guitarist on the circuit, but that doesn't mean he serves up trickery. No, the guitar playing is faultless but unlike other bands I could name, it's also lively, fun and above all a hard-hitting show. Don't think blues club with Miller, think stadium. Stand out songs in a 90% original set are "Man On A Mission" (title of the latest album), "How can a Man Resist" and "Soul in Chains". Now I would imagine that for a trio to deliver such a tight, punchy sound that they must have played a few gigs in their time but there is none of the ponderous, leadeness of old hands. Instead you feel they are here to have a good time and put on a show - there is no way you are going to walk out of this venue without a smile on your face.
Blueprint

Larry Miller is a rock guitarist who is totally up for it the moment he steps on the stage. His high energy antics create an atmosphere alive with excitement. A showman through and through, Larry has charm by the bucket load. His mastery of the guitar is outstanding. He is every inch a maestro - as his dad used to call him.

Larry's powerful and intricate performance of such numbers as "The River", "Man On A Mission", "Back Stabber Blues" and a cracking new arrangement of "What in the World" wowed the pub crowd this weekend. Larry prefers the initimacy of a smaller venue and his charismatic style draws people to him. He attracts stalwart fans time and time again to his gigs, varying his set and bringing in new numbers to keep it fresh. He also makes new friends wherever he goes, but it would be great to see him at a large festval venue (sadly I missed him when he played at Reading).

The musician has a dedicated team behind him including faithful roadie Julian and two crackin' musicians in Mel Waters on bass and Andy Aust on drums. Andy plays a mean set of drums complimenting the fast and furious pace set by Larry, and Mel's innovative bass lines complete the power rock sound of the talented trio.

Larry writes all his own songs and while he has a distinctive style, the tracks vary from hot melodic blues to heart-rending ballads to high octane rocking tunes.

Top man, top guitarist, top night out!
