I cant write a review that would do justice to such a fantastic
night, I hope someone can help me out!!
Steve
P.S My biggest thanks in the world go to
Blakey Paul, I owe you so much!!!
What did they play after white xmas? we had to go as the driver
had to go to work at the crack of dawn hope we didn't miss too
much.

You missed the longest version of Mother Nature I've ever heard. Great song to finish a great night. Thanks to everyone. Great to finally have a chat with Heather and Angie afterwards (enjoy New Year in Inveraray - Angie and Mark, don't drink too much of the local whisky!). Thanks for inviting me down Rach, you're a star!! Big hugs and thanks to Blakey Paul and the bar staff, Richard, Bev, Steve, Matt, Thijs and his extremely tall Dutch pal, Tom, THE JUDGE, and not forgetting, Bryan, Heather, Iain, Angie, Liam, Andy and Jonny.
Have a great festive season. See you in the new year, and good luck with the writing and recording of the new album.
Slainte,

What can I say? A totally fantastic night!
I would like to say thanks to Blakey Paul for yet another great
Blakey gig. Then thanks to the band for being themselves.
The Judge was just great at getting the crowd going and it was great that Mckinty was able to make the gig it just isn't same without him.
The Birds would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we will see you all again in 2004.

I think its all been said but i'll add my thanks to Paul and Mostly Autumn for another great evening.
Cheers

After all the years of seeing Mostly Autumn develop and mature from under rated pub band to one of the most (if not the most) under rated bands in the country (world?) i still get blown away by the Blakey Xmas gigs - or was that just the 8 pints of op? (don't think so!?)
On the subject of OP that's the most of
it I've drank and still felt soberish so i hope there was no water
involved - only joking, was the best I have ever tasted, full
marks to the cellar-person (just to be politically correct).
Glad Noddy made his now expected and deserved apperance (Liam Liam Liam....etc) and the cross dressing of Heather and Angie a piece of comic genius.
All in all one of the best MA gigs I've been to (but then again I always say that about Blakey) and as I said on the Classic Rock Mag vote, MA will hopefully be my biggest hope for 2004, for the final time they deserve to be bigger than they imagine - as long as Blakey gigs don't disappear
Well just to add have got tickets for next July's Blakey Festival numbers 3 and 4, wonder who got 1 and 2???
"The Spirit of Old Peculiar"
Tickets 1 and 2? Well that would be Maria and me.. and B+B booked in Castleton... never been this organised before!!
Blakey gig? Brilliant. On stage banter between
Heather and Bryan was priceless, a stand up comedy career beckons
I think. Cracking atmosphere. Severe lack of Little Donkey for
my liking but you can't have everything!! Heather and Angela's
clothes swap was just pure comic genius. Thanks very much for
a brilliant evening.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda.

Had a great time at Blakey's...
What a show... I was really happy that i have made it to come
to blakey...
And that thanks to: Bev, Steve & Matt....
they offered us a ride from East-Midlands Airport up to Blakey.
If they hadn't offerd me that I weren't able to come..
And of course a big applause goes out to Blakey Paul... thanks again for arranging the room! Can you offer me that one for next year also.
And Paul thanks for the shirt!!! CU next
blakey fest!
And greetings go out to all I've talked to.
Merry Christmas (i have had my party already) & Happy New Year to all Mostly Autumn Members!!!!
Cheers,
Thijs van de Wouw (Holland)
Thijs,
Glad you're back ok. Bev shed a tear when you left us at the airport, just shows what an impact the last couple of days have made! Its like xmas has now been and gone.
I would like to personally thank all the band, Paul and all at The Lion and all fellow MA fans for making it such a special night.
Cheers and have a good xmas and new year.
Steve,Bev and Matt.

Just to say a GREAT BIG THANKS for another terrific night at Blakey. What an atmosphere in that place!
Going through a real life nightmare at the moment and needed my batteries recharging......that helped lots....THANKS!
Look forward to seeing you all again soon.
Keep up the good work & have a GREAT Christmas!
Luv & Best Wishes....Tony.
What an exciting night! Highlights for us were meeting new faces like Ian Bell, Rachael, Robin and many, many others.
Trying to drive back to our B&B was another matter! Sliding fifty yards down an icy Blakey Bank sideways was fun, although the driver's seat will now need a valet!! We managed to reverse back up a got back to the Lion around 3.40am, just in time for Heather to place us in the group photo. If we look bewildered, we were just glad to be alive and in the warm! Paul let us sleep in the bar that night - didn't bat an eyelid - Tope Dude. Funny looks from peole we'd just said goodbye to not half an hour earlier!
Then great advice from Liam on how best
to position ourselves in front of the fire, speaking from experience!
Heather popping down to see us in her jim-jams and offering me
something to keep me warm. (That's how I heard it guys!)I was
just about to crack a Special Brew bottle on Jean's head to keep
her asleep when I noticed all I was being offered was a blanket
Thanks Heather! I was warm all night in my new MA sweat shirt
though (so they do work!) whilst Jean hogged the blankets! Still,
I got DNA samples off the blanket and I'll be spending Christmas
in my laboratory with my DIY cloning kit Jean said she saw Jonny's
bare bum at one point and then "slept" with four blokes
in the bar. Only got the name of one of them - cheers to Chubby/Jonathan
- your humour helped us through the night, unlike Mr Snorer. I
wouldn't have put that pepper up his nose like that! Thanks also
to Andy - how we could discuss the merits of soul and motown at
6.30 am is beyond me!
A little more sleep and the smell of a Blakey Breakfast wafting from the kitchen woke us. I doubt we had three hours kip all night but that huge pot of Blakey Tea and a full breakfast brought us back to life! The drive down to our B&B in the cold light of day showed us sheer drops to the right of the road - so glad we got back up the road! We were so knackered we decided to go straight back home - via Whitby! Mooched around there for an hour or two where quite by chance, we bumped into Patrick and Maria who were also making a day of it.
Glad we're home now and can calm down! Cheers to everyone we met old and new. Have a great Christmas!
Tom Crosbie
The late night soul discussion will stick
in my mind as one of the great surreal overnight experiences of
all time (up against some pretty stiff competition!)Another brilliant
MA memory and a great description of events Tom, have a great
Xmas!
Andy (Mostly Autumn)
Thanks to the Band, Blakey Paul and everyone who helped to put
this gig on. We had a great time and are already looking forward
to next years. Great to see Bev, Steve, Matt & the rest of
the gang again.
Tom, I can assure you that the road back down to Farndale did not get any better. We managed to make it but not without hitting one of the grit bins and putting a small whole in the side of the rear bumper. That was in a 4x4 and I would not have tried either if I had been in a standard car. We did try and ring the Lion to warn you but mobile phones and the Yorkshire moors do not go together.
Thanks to everyone again and I hope that all of the forum readers have a great Xmas.

Another long trip up north, third this year, but even breaking
down en route didn't dent the anticipation for this very special
gig for myself, my wife and a mate who we picked up from York
station on the way.
What a fantastic occasion it was at the
Lion Inn. I was amazed at how good the sound was and even the
light show in such a cosy venue. But most of all the band who
manage to put on yet another spot-on performance yet maintained
the intimacy with the fans. We also enjoyed the extra humour &
banter in keeping with the season and venue, "Noddy"
Davison & the girl's identity swap particularly coming to
mind. I think it was Bryan who said something about this being
a kind of family occasion and how true this was. If MA ever make
the big time we'll probably lose this close contact with the band
so lets appreciate it while we can. Thanks very much to the band,
Blakey Paul and all the people who helped put this together. Also
nice to meet some of the fans including Rachael and Robin who
were staying at our B&B in Hutton-Le-Hole. Looking forward
to the Poole gig, only 10 miles away!
Bernard

Hi Paul
Sorry it has taken me so long to write (Christmas parties, flu etc. to blame), but MA gig 18 Dec was fantastic. Thank you once again for all the work you most obviously put into these gigs and silly string was an excellent idea!
Hoping you had a good Christmas and every best wish for the New Year!
Rachel
