Genetically engineered from the ruins of some well-known Yorkshire bands, various alcoholic substances and used chip fat The Daftness were born in 2003. The Daftness are a Pickering based rock band covering all your favourites from Metallica, Sabbath/Ozzy, Thin Lizzy, Guns 'n' Roses, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, The Darkness and many more. If you like your rock heavy mixed with a liberal sprinkling of beer induced daftness this is the band for you.

Fronted by Scott Wardell (ex Stone Cold/ Audiogasm) who takes care of vocals, lead guitar and silly hats and trousers. He is the proud owner of an array of expensive guitars, amps and pedals, some of which actually work on occasions.

Tim (ex Godfish and Skeleton Crew) takes care of the other guitar and backing vocals. Even more expensive gear most of which works most of the time. Has the second lowest stance in the band (not counting Scott, of course, who stands just 3 foot 2 in heels anyway).

Adi (ex Uncle Dirty/ Gumbox/ Knee Deep) on bass. The loudest, lowest bass known to man but is often told to '"tont bass up" by the more discerning (Yorkshire) fans. This and Scotty's arse are the only man made sounds that can be heard from space.

Paul "T-Bone" Thomson (ex Stone Cold/ Audiogasm and many more) on drums is in charge of keeping us lot in time and supplying fish suppers.

Helped, hindered and heckled by Dudley Pipe who twiddles knobs, flashes lights and lays an ever-increasing amount of cables.

Review from Blakey Gig 3/2/05

"With a set-list including classic tunes from Thin Lizzy, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, AC/DC, Metallica, The Cult, Iron Maiden, Greenday, Guns n Roses, Black Sabbath and other rock heroes a night with the Daftness is a welcome relief from the deep and meaningless.

They gave a storming nights entertainment to a packed house at Blakey in early February. The Daftness aren't as daft as they sometimes make out - with Scott Wardell on vocals and guitar, Tim Stark guitar, Adi Bury on bass and the excellent Paul Thompson on drums their musicianship is of a remarkable standard and their full-on, often hilarious, performance is aimed at ensuring everyone has a great night out. A night with the Daftness - highly recommended". THE LINK
